MY GRANDDAUGHTER:- (By Mrs. Morrison)

I WAS VERY HAPPY TO SEE MY GRANDDAUGHTER, DENIESE, AND WAS PLEASED THAT SHE HAD COME OUT TO SEE ME, ESPECIALLY AS IT WAS COUNTRY MUSIC WEEK. SHE COULD HAVE STAYED IN TOWN, BUT I COULDN'T GET IN TO SEE HER.

I WAS VERY HAPPY TO FIND OUT THAT SHE DIDN'T STUTTER ANYMORE, AS SHE USED TO DO. WHEN DENIESE AND HER FRIEND CAME HERE, THEY SANG THE SONGS THAT I ASKED THEM TO SING, FOR BOTH MYSELF AND THE REST OF THE RESIDENTS.

I LOVE HER VERY MUCH, AS I USED TO LOOK AFTER HER OF A WEEKEND WHILE LEN AND HEATHER WENT OUT. SHE USED TO HANG ROUND HER GRANDFATHER LIKE A LITTLE DOG AND WOULD FOLLOW HIM UP AND DOWN WHEN HE WAS PLOUGHING.

DENIESE USED TO SING TO RAISE MONEY FOR DIFFERENT THINGS IN TAMWORTH AND WAS NOTICED BY A FELLOW FROM MELBOURNE, WHO GOT HER TO CUT HER FIRST RECORD - SHE HAS HAD AT LEAST SIX SINCE THEN. SHE WAS IN UNIVERSITY AT THE TIME. DENIESE LEFT THE UNIVERSITY AND COMMENCED TRAVELLING, TO DO SHOWS IN CLUBS AND ALL SORTS OF PLACES, INCLUDING THE OPERA HOUSE. DENIESE AND TWO OTHER FELLOWS PERFORMED AT ONE OF THE TURN OUTS THAT MR. FRASER HAD, WHEN HE WAS PRIME MINISTER. SHE HAS BEEN IN TASMANIA AND NEW ZEALAND AND HAS PERFORMED ON THE TOURIST SHIPS. SHE HAS PERFORMED ALL OVER AUSTRALIA, HAS WORKED AS A JOURNALIST AND ON RADIO.

I AM PROUD TO SAY THAT SHE HAS WON THE BEST FEMALE PERFORMED AT THE COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS FOR 1987.

A Grandma's Perspective

Wayne Horsburgh and I went to Moonbi House Retirement Village to sing for Grandma and the other residents during the Festival. Grandma wrote this for the Village Newsletter.

When the storm hit, Wayne (Horsburgh) was stranded on the island, I was seasick and Mum got all the publicity.

...and have a look at the things I do for a bit of publicity!
